This painting is born from the contemplation of our fragility, a reflection on the fleeting nature of existence, and the humility we should embrace in the face of its vastness. Inspired by Psalm 39:4, the piece seeks to capture the feeling of vulnerability and the need to recognize our finiteness: "Lord, make me know my end, and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am."
The figure, with its head slightly inclined and hair cascading over its face, sinks into a deep meditative state, evoking a silent surrender to the inevitable. It is not merely a gesture of introspection, but a moment of acceptance—a pause in which the mind sheds its ego to confront the truth of its transience. The atmosphere created by light and shadow reinforces this sensation: golden and ochre tones contrast with deep shadows in a dialogue between illumination and obscurity, symbolizing the duality of our earthly presence and the uncertainty of the future.
The creative process flowed quickly, yet not without intensity. Each brushstroke was a conversation with my thoughts, a solitude in which the painting became both mirror and witness to my self-examination. The texture of the piece adds a tactile element to the visual experience—it is not a smooth, flawless surface, but a vibrant skin that breathes the emotions of the moment in which it was conceived.
This artwork is an invitation to pause, contemplate, and understand that our fragility is not a weakness, but a truth that brings us back to our essence.
