101.6x76.2 cm ~ Painting, Oil
Job 32:18—"For I am full of words, and the spirit within me compels me"—resonates with the essence of this piece: a person whose life was saturated with expression but, in their constant giving, gradually lost their own radiance. It is a narrative that speaks of the erosion of creative identity, the exhaustion caused by an unceasing flow toward others without the possibility of regeneration.
Visually, the choice of a blurred central area in the composition reinforces the idea of dissolution. The texture along the edges creates a striking contrast, as if the individual were trapped between the tangible and the ethereal—between what once was and what is slowly fading away. This detail conveys a sense of struggle, as if the figure is desperately trying to hold onto something that inevitably slips away.
The piece underwent numerous transformations throughout its creative process. There were moments when it felt too defined, too solid, before reaching the desired state of evanescence. Achieving the symbolism of wear in both color and texture was crucial in representing the loss of essence through self-sacrifice and emotional depletion. This work captures the melancholic beauty of a spirit that gives itself away until it fades into nothingness.
